Anyone can have a green thumb simply by acquiring the knowledge they don't have.

The Most Common Mistakes That Can Cause Death to Your Plants

Many people make mistakes that unknowingly condemn plants to a short and difficult life. Here are some of the main reasons:

  • Unsuitable environment : Tropical plants require specific temperatures and humidity levels, which are often not respected at home. The home climate tends to be too dry or cold for them or full of cold drafts.
  • Incorrect watering : one of the main causes of plant suffering is incorrect watering, both in terms of frequency and method. Many water randomly, too much or too little, without knowing the real needs of the plant.
  • Poor quality substrate : the most common and serious mistake is the use of a universal soil from the supermarket, often purchased only to save money. But an unsuitable substrate suffocates the roots, causes stagnation and leads the plants to death. Furthermore, the substrate with which you buy the plant in nurseries, garden centers, shops or supermarkets, must be replaced , after a few weeks of adaptation of the new arrival in our home. This is because in large productions they only use peat to reduce costs (given the large quantity of plants); however, this is suitable for growing in greenhouses but not in our homes. Therefore it must be replaced and with a new draining and quality substrate! In this article I explain how it is composed: click here : "Substrate for Monstera and other Tropical Plants"
