Monstera adansonii pianta tropicale in natura rampicante su albero con foglie bucate

Monstera adansonii is a semi-epiphytic plant that has a climbing habit (in nature it grows anchored to trees with its roots) and benefits from a support (e.g. a pole) with sphagnum or coconut fiber. This type of Monstera, however, also adapts well as a hanging plant, but it will have smaller leaves.

You can provide support from an early age if you want to shape its growth, or you can add it when the plant has grown.

As an alternative to the sphagnum or coconut fibre pole, you can use a climbing plant trellis.

About the plant🪴

Characteristics of the plant

Tropical plant that outside of tropical or subtropical climates must be kept indoors or in a greenhouse (heated in winter).

Monstera adansonii is a climbing plant . It prefers a support to climb on. It can also be grown as a hanging plant (but it will produce smaller leaves).

Tips: Use a pole filled with sphagnum moss or a log as a support.

Fun fact: plants belonging to the Monstera species have "holes" in their leaves to allow light to reach the lower leaves, in the dark rainforests where they live.
